I’m attracted to utilitarian structures of the past – the decaying architecture of a vacant gas station, a derelict travel trailer fading in the afternoon light, or the quiet interior of a roadside diner. My imagery is inspired by the places I encounter while traveling cross country on a road-trip, or traversing familiar territory such as a walk through city streets. It is always accidental, that moment when light, shadow and subject collide, and the scene grabs my attention demanding that I observe with fresh eyes. I paint primarily in oil on wood panels.
