Meredith Tromble

Meredith Tromble is an artist and writer working at the intersections of art, science, and technology. From 2000-2010 she was active as a member of the artist collective, publishing an online magazine and orchestrating dialogs and events. Her independent work of the past decade includes a series of performance/interventions focusing attention on psychological aspects of sustainability and collaborations with research groups in 3-D visualization and neuroscience. Her practice as an art writer began as a regular artist/commentator for KQED-FM. In addition to producing hundreds of commentaries in fifteen years of broadcasting, she has authored many features and reviews, and served as art editor or editor-in-chief for several magazines, including Artweek and Art Contemporaries. She is currently writing “Art and Shadows,” a blog started with seed funding from the Art Writers Grant Initiative of the Andy Warhol Foundation. Tromble received an MFA in studio art from Mills College in 1991 and is on the faculty of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the San Francisco Art Institute.
