Shipyard artists Nina Fabunmi, Ahmad Walker, Rhonel Roberts, and Afatasi the Artist created graphics for the play “Dirty White Teslas Make Me Sad” by Bayview playwright A.M. (Ashley) Smiley. Nina designed backdrops for the play, Rhonel and Ahmad created poster art, and Afatasi designed costumes, funded by a 2021 grant from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.
The play will be performed by the Magic Theatre from Wednesday, February 28, to Sunday, March 17, 2024. The Magic Theatre describes it as “about the regentrification of San Francisco and the displacement of Black folks from their neighborhoods. DWTMMS is a testimonial about people and their struggles with hope.” More information and tickets
