This tour gives exclusive access to a curated selection of artists’ studios, including those rarely open to the public!

Since 1983, both emerging and internationally established artists have found low-cost serene studio spaces on the former Navy facility that is still generally closed to the public. Today the Shipyard houses the largest artist community in the US with over 300 working artists and musicians, the last refuge for artists under threat of displacement all over the City.

This private tour is a rare chance to see how contemporary artists produce their work, view their latest works, and meet these artists in their most intimate surroundings.

Experience the historic Shipyard in its gritty state that may soon be replaced by steel and glass!

This three-hour self-guided tour will provide some background on the art studios and end with a reception in ArtPoint’s Artist-in-Residence Nicole Mueller’s amazing studio by the waterfront.

Maps and studio guides will be provided.
