Marc Ellen Hamel

Born in Seattle, moved to San Francisco in 1970's, now living in Oakland. I have been an abstract oil painter for 40 years, a monotype printmaker for the past 15, and often make collage "on the side," as I am attracted to colors, word, ephemera, and my old ripped up artworks. Oil painting is deep and difficult and expresses much emotion; monotype printmaking is quick and spontaneous and offers constant surprise. Making collage employs my "arrangement" muscles and combines with puzzling out the flotsam and jetsam of my life.
