Shipyard artist Linda Hope announces a new series of in-person Figure Drawing classes at the MPIC Clubhouse in San Francisco!
Figure Drawing I
When: Saturdays 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dates: May 6 – June 10 Six Weeks
Where: MPIC Clubhouse
Cost: $325 for 6-week course. This includes the model fee!
Figure Drawing I: This six-weeks of drawing class follows basic lesson plans that will revisit basic elements of Figure Drawing–Gesture, Line, and Value–where processes and approaches will slowly build on themselves over time to result in integrated drawings. The first six weeks would be perfect for anyone who has never drawn before! It will also be an ideal review, even for those with much experience. Model fees are included in the total cost for this class.
Figure Drawing II
When: Saturdays 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dates: June 17 – July 29 Seven Weeks
Where: MPIC Clubhouse
Cost: $375 for 7-weeks or $325 for 6-weeks. This includes the model fee!
Figure Drawing II: This class includes the introduction of concepts, constructs and methods that go beyond the beginning or “Fundamental” level. Exercises will be designed such that a deeper investigation of basic elements of figure drawing might be explored and will include: the different types of line, what they are called and how they are used; using gesture as means to reveal the passage of time or narrative; and distinct ways of seeing, sensing and recording value. Model fees will be included as part of the total cost of this class.
To register for either class:
You can email or call Linda at LindaHope.art@gmail.com or call her at 415-334-3603 with your intention to enroll; it may be necessary to limit enrollment to allow for safe or comfortable distancing. If you email, please provide a phone number in case you need to be reached. Payment can be made in person at the first class meeting. You need not pay until the first class meeting.
The classes are three and a half hours long. The model will start posing at 11:30 and will work until 2:30. The half-hour from 11:00-11:30 will be used for discussion and Q&A; surface anatomy as is relevant to drawing; and special techniques or drawing process demonstrations.
