Shipyard artist Rhonel Roberts reports that he is in the middle of a long-term public art project:
In July 2023 I was contacted about a project called “Paint the Void” which reached out to me and several other artists to create art on utility boxes throughout the city.
As with any city project it took a while for the permits to become available for artists to proceed with their designated utility boxes.
I was given four utility boxes to paint in my own style in the Bayview and various locations. (Most are along 3rd Street.)
I opted to have mine done with a “art-wrap” thereby giving us more control over possible tagging.
It’s been great and I am looking forward to completion of all of them!
