The Bayview Opera House is proud to present a collection of Ira Watkins’ works. Ira has been a Bay Area resident since 1957. He is a self-taught artist whose work depicts motifs of liberation, art, success and celebrates the African-American community in the Bay Area that migrated from the South during WWII to find jobs in the shipyards.

As part of the exhibit, BVOH will be featuring Unity. The art for this project was a part of a long-term project led by artist Eustinove Smith to create  a mural on a wall at Charles Drew Elementary. The students contributed many  ideas to the final design, and some of those kids’ ideas are represented as framed pictures on display in addition to the resulting mural design.

Live music by Calvin Keys. Light Refreshments will be served.
