Shipyard artist Bob Armstrong announces:
I have just returned from Montana, where I did a two week artist residency at the Taft NichoIson Center in the remote Centennial Valley by Yellowstone National Park. There were herds of moose, elk and pronghorn antelopes, and trumpeter swans with their young. All hikes required me to take bear spray, to prevent becoming a bear’s lunch.
It was a wonderful experience, where I was given a large studio and a one bedroom cabin, and was able to work nonstop for 14 days. I am delighted to say that I finished two new carved paintings, one of which you see above, called “Odell Creek” after a beautiful trail there. The second, called “Lower Red Rock Lake” is featured below.
